Keep Your Feet Smelling Sweet All Summer with These Tips ...

It’s hard to imagine being able to live the whole summer in sandals. There are days when you have to wear shoes, and naturally, there are other times when you just want to wear shoes. But closed-in shoes bring their own little unwanted treat on hot summer days – sweaty feet! Here are the best ways I know to keep cheesy feet at bay:

1

Keep Your Feet Sweet with a Vinegar Soak

One way to keep your feet from being smelly is to soak your tootsies in vinegar. Make a mixture by adding one part vinegar to two parts water in a large bowl and soak your feet for half an hour. By soaking your feet in this solution, you will be creating an inhospitable environment for bacteria.

2

Wear No-show Socks to Keep the Sweat Away

Even though you may want to go sockless in the summer, you will be better off opting for no-show socks because this keeps you from sweating into your shoes. The good thing is that you can wear these socks with all types of shoes, including flats, saddles, bucks, and loafers. Be sure to buy socks made from a light cotton.

3

Use Baking Soda in Your Shoes to Eliminate Odor

Baking soda is well known for its ability to absorb odors. Don’t just tip the baking soda into your shoes though. Put it into a pair of socks and place them in your shoes when you're not wearing them. Be sure to use thin socks and tie their ends with something to keep the baking soda from spilling out.

4

Febreze and Baby Powder Make a Potent Mix to Fight Cheesy Feet

I just adore Febreze – especially the fresh cotton smell variety. You can use this to freshen up your shoes (or any other similar product). After you’ve sprayed them, dust the shoes with an unscented talcum powder (baby powder).

5

Use Antibacterial Wipes to Wipe Away the Smells

What could be simpler than wiping down your feet with antibacterial wipes to prevent a buildup of odor? You should also use these wipes to clean the inside of your shoes to eliminate any bacteria that may cause odor.

Use Mint Oil when Other Tricks Fail

It is quite common for people to throw out shoes just because they smell awful. You can, however, avoid wasting money by using mint oil. Even when foot sprays and powders fail to produce desired results, mint essential oil might be the perfect answer for you. A couple of drops of mint essential oil will do the trick – rub it on your feet before you slip into your shoes.

7

Use Proprietary Products for the Job They Were Made for

There’s nothing wrong with using store bought stuff to keep your toes tasty. Whether you try a spray on deodorant or a powder, they are designed to do the job. You might even consider odor eating insoles that contain charcoal, which is a substance known to absorb smells.

Keep Your Shoe Wardrobe Busy

One of the simplest tricks to avoid smelly feet is to give your shoes a break. Don’t wear the same pair of shoes two days running. Leave the ones worn that day out in the open rather than stuffed in a cupboard/closet to give them a chance to freshen up before you wear them again later in the week.

Now you don't have to ask again about how to prevent smelly feet. Is this a problem you suffer with?
