With Dresses

Wedge shoes look great with both long and short dresses. When looking at how to wear wedges with dresses, it all really comes down to your personal style. Choose a style of wedge shoe that works best with your wardrobe. This could mean choosing between classic, vintage, contemporary, or directional designs.

UPD:

Wedges are a great way to add a bit of height and style to your look. Whether you’re wearing a long dress or a short one, they can be the perfect addition to your outfit. Here are some tips on how to wear wedges:

  1. Choose the right style. Wedges come in a variety of styles, so choose one that best fits your wardrobe. Think classic, vintage, contemporary, or directional designs.

  2. Consider the occasion. Wedges can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. For a more formal event, choose a wedge with a heel or a wedge with a more formal design. For a more casual look, opt for a flat wedge or a wedge with a more casual design.

  3. Consider the height. Wedges come in a variety of heights, so consider the height you want. If you’re looking for a bit of extra height, opt for a higher wedge. If you’re looking for a more subtle look, opt for a lower wedge.

2

With Skirts

When wearing wedges with skirts, steer clear of anything too form fitting. Wedges can appear quite chunky, and teaming them with a pencil skirt or anything bodycon can give an unflattering and ‘clunky’ appearance. Fuller, flowing skirts ultimately look better with wedge shoes.

UPD:

A-line or midi skirts are particularly harmonious with wedges as they balance out the proportions. For a summer vibe, pair a bright, flirty skirt with a neutral-toned wedge sandal. Maxi skirts also work exceptionally well as they elongate the body – creating a beautiful silhouette that plays up the lengthening effect of the wedge heel. When selecting skirts, opt for those with movement or a bit of volume to counterbalance the solidity of the wedge. Avoid overly embellished wedge designs when your skirt is the statement piece to maintain a polished look.

3

With Jeans

When it comes to how to wear wedge shoes, jeans are a classic option. However, it’s important to take note of the style of your jeans. Skinny jeans are perfect for showing off your wedges, but if you’re wearing bootleg or flared jeans make sure that the hem covers most of the wedge as this will create the most streamlined silhouette.

UPD:

Wedges are a great way to add a bit of height and style to any outfit. Whether you’re looking for a casual, everyday look or something a bit more dressy, wedges are a great choice. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of wearing wedges:

  1. Choose the right height: Wedges come in a variety of heights, so make sure to select a pair that is comfortable and flattering. If you’re petite, opt for a lower wedge to avoid looking overwhelmed by the shoe. If you’re tall, a higher wedge can help to elongate your legs.

  2. Consider the width: Wedges come in a range of widths, from narrow to wide. If you’re looking for a more casual look, choose a narrow wedge. For a dressier look, opt for a wider wedge.

In Summer

Work a playful look during the summer months with wedge sandals or espadrilles. Open toed and strappy styles are perfect for letting your feet breathe. There are a myriad of options for how to wear wedges this way, as they look great with everything from summer dresses to preppy shorts.

UPD:

Espadrilles, in particular, lend a casual yet chic vibe, encapsulating the essence of beachy sophistication. Opt for a canvas or cotton upper to keep things light and breathable, while the rope sole adds a touch of rustic elegance. Pair these summer staples with a breezy maxi dress or a feminine skirt for a relaxed afternoon outing. When the temperature rises, opt for bold prints or bright colors to make your outfit pop. Remember, maintaining a balance between comfort and style is key; with wedges, you get the best of both worlds on those long, sun-drenched days.

5

In Winter

In winter, try wearing your wedges in boot form. A knee high boot with a wedge heel can give your outfit the extra edge. Wear them over tights and with a shift dress and layered knits for a cool off-duty look.

UPD:

Winter is the perfect time to wear wedges in boot form. Not only are they stylish and fashionable, but they also provide extra warmth and comfort. Knee high boots with a wedge heel are a great way to add a bit of edge to your outfit. They look great with tights and a shift dress, as well as layered knits.

Wedges are a great way to add height without compromising on comfort. They can give you the look of a high heel without the pain that comes with it. Wedges are also very versatile and can be worn with a variety of outfits. You can wear them with jeans, skirts, dresses, and shorts.

When it comes to winter, you want to make sure that your wedges are warm and comfortable. Look for boots with a thicker sole and a waterproof material. This will help keep your feet warm and dry in cold weather. Also, make sure that the wedges have good traction so you don’t slip on icy surfaces.

To Work

If you’re looking to wear wedges to work, stick to classic pump style shoes. When looking at how to wear wedges to work, look for a mid-heel shoe with an enclosed almond-toe. A black leather wedge shoe is a great versatile option. Patent finishes are also ideal for creating a polished, sophisticated finish.

UPD:

When choosing wedges for work, consider the heel height. A mid-heel wedge is the best option as it is comfortable to walk in and still provides a professional look. For a timeless look, opt for a classic black leather wedge, or for something more eye-catching, a patent finish. Avoid open-toe styles and opt for an enclosed almond-toe for a more polished look. Additionally, consider the material of the wedge. Leather is the most common option for work, but suede or fabric can also be suitable. Finally, when wearing wedges to work, make sure they fit properly and are comfortable to walk in.

7

Create Balance

Wedge shoes can be quite commanding, so it’s important to create a sense of balance. If a shoe seems particularly chunky, tone it down with softer fabrics and silhouettes. If a shoe lies at the ‘neutral’ end of the spectrum, then you’re freer to wear them with a brighter and busier outfit.

UPD:

Avoid overpowering your outfit with excessive bulk by pairing your chunky wedges with flowy dresses or wide-leg pants. This combination ensures that your look maintains an air of elegance and prevents the wedges from dominating the ensemble. On the other hand, for more understated wedge styles, consider trying bold prints or structured pieces to add a touch of sophistication and interest to your outfit without overwhelming it. Remember, proportion is key when incorporating wedges into your wardrobe, and achieving the right mix will enhance your overall style.

Experiment

When it comes to how to wear wedge shoes, experiment with different looks. This is one of the only ways to really find out what really works for you. Try on different outfit combinations to see what looks work best.

i love those tips

Loved these tips! However, I disagree with number 2 in regards to the form fitting skirts or dresses to an extent. I wear wedges with form fitting dresses when I go out all the time and I can do this because I have fairly long legs that are somewhat shapely (or so I've been told haha). The main thing is making sure that your outfit and shoes is proprtionate to your body type and size. Just make sure everything compliments your best features rather than brings attention to your less noteable qualities.
