Burlesque inspired shoes will leave you feeling glamorous, looking glitzy, and oozing style. Most burlesque inspired shoes are larger than life! This means you need to adjust to tottering around in them carefully. Before you know it, you will be strutting your stuff with more elegance and wiggle than Dita von Teese herself.
1. Charlotte Olympia Sweet Dolly Suede Pumps
With six-inch heels, these burlesque inspired shoes aren’t for the faint hearted! Usually, burlesque is a little dark and moody on the color front. However, that doesn’t mean you never see a dancer with sweeter colors. Thanks to the wedge and heel combo, these shoes from Charlotte Olympia are a great starting point. I love the whole candy around the ankle thing; it’s a cute touch!
2. Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Red Heart Lady Dragon Heeled Sandals
Only Vivienne Westwood would be able to team up with another designer and produce a pair of shoes that is both environmentally friendly and sexy. Fusing their British and Brazilian talents, Vivienne and Melissa have made these beauties. I think the heart on the front is perfect for burlesque! The heels aren’t too daunting either. They also feature Westwood’s signature orbs on the side.
3. Karen Millen Crystal Encrusted Heeled Shoes
What is burlesque without a bit of crystal? Well Karen Millen have taken the crystal theme to the extremes by plastering these heels in them! One of the great things about wearing Karen Millen shoes is that they are such excellent quality, you won’t have to worry about crystals dropping off. These shoes are timeless. Take good care of them, and they will last for as long as you still love them.
4. ASOS SOUL Heels
Before burlesque went and got all modern and high, there were flat and modest shoes. Admittedly, these ones are definitely easier to dance in! They also draw on the ongoing brogue trend, making them versatile. ASOS has pulled off some serious red sheen with these shoes. Wearing them, you will look as though you belong in the Moulin Rouge.
5. Gucci Lace up Leather Ankle Boots
Lace ups used to stretch right to the knee, and sometimes beyond. If you prefer a modern twist on lace up burlesque boots, Gucci has the answer. These curved ankle boots are almost futuristic. They belong to a dancer by night, and a savvy office worker by day. It’s hard to find boots that are THIS versatile!
6. Charlotte Olympia Sabrina Glittered PVC Platform Sandals
I half died when I saw these! It’s almost as though Charlotte Olympia entered my head when I was a kid, stole my idea of amazing shoes, and made them. What more do you need from heels when you are dancing? There is glitter, a platform wedge, high heels, and a beautiful rose on the front! These shoes are definitely to be treasured!
7. ASOS Popsicle Platforms
Of course not all of us can reach a Charlotte Olympia style budget. That’s absolutely fine, because ASOS is a girl’s best friend on the funky shoe front. I love these popsicle platforms! They are still glamorous, but totally affordable. They even look a little edgier than similar pairs!
Burlesque shoes are always outlandish. They either feature ridiculous heels, OTT designs, vibrant colors, or a mixture of both. In my opinion, the wilder they are, the better. If you have a favorite pair of shoes that feel a little burlesque-like, what are they?
